Great Collection of Quotes and Poems

Quotations and poems are used for a variety of reasons to illuminate the meaning or to support the arguments of the work in which it is being quoted, or to provide direct information about the work being quoted. Quotations and poems are like interesting friends. You collect them gradually, one at a time. May be my collection is small, but it will inspire me and my life a lot.

Lady: Why do you like me? Why do you love me?
Man : I can't tell the reason... But I really like you...
Lady: You can't even tell me the reason... How can you say you like me? How can you say you love me?
Man : I really don't know the reason, but I can prove that I love you.
Lady: Proof ? No! I want you to tell me the reason. My friend's boyfriend can tell her why he loves her, but not you!
Man : OK...OK !!! Hmmm... because you are beautiful,
because your voice is sweet, because you are caring,
because you are loving, because you are thoughtful,
because of your smile, because of your graceful movements...

Unfortunately, a few days later, the Lady met with an accident and went in comma. The Guy placed a letter by her side, and here is the content :

Dearest,
I loved you because of your sweet voice ...Now can u talk? No! Therefore I can't love you.
I liked you because of your care and concern ... Now that you can't show them, therefore I can't love you.
I loved you because of your smile, because of your graceful movements...
Now can you smile? Now can you move? No. Therefore I can't love you...
If love needs a reason, there is no reason for me to love you anymore.
Does love need a reason????
No! Therefore, I still love you... And love doesn't need a reason...

Dear friends,--

We all love Sardar jokes. But do you know that Sikhs are one of the hardest working prosperous and diversified communities in the world.

My friend told me about the following incident which I wish to share with you.
It has had a deep impact on my thinking.
During last vacation, his few friends came to Delhi . They rented a taxi for local sight-seeing. The driver was an old Sardar and boys being boys, these pals began cracking Sardarji jokes, just to tease the old man. But to their surprise, the fellow remained unperturbed.

At the end of the sight-seeing, they paid the cab hire-charges. The Sardar returned the change, but he gave each one of them one rupee extra and said, ''Son, since morning you have been telling Sardarji jokes.. I listened to them all and let me tell you, some of them were in bad taste. Still, I don't mind coz I know that you are young blood and are yet to see the world..

But I have one request. I am giving you one rupee each. Give it to the first Sardar beggar that you come across in this or any other city.'

My friend continued, ' That one rupee coin is still with me. I couldn't find a single Sardar begging anywhere.'

MORAL:

The secret behind their universal success, is their willingness to do any job with utmost dedication and pride. A Sardar will drive a truck or set up a roadside garage or a dhaba, put a fruit juice stall, take up small time carpentry, ... but he will never beg on the streets.

One old man was sitting with his 25 years old son in the train.
Train is about to leave the station.
All passengers are settling down their seat.
As train started young man was filled with lot of joy and curiosity.
He was sitting on the window side.
He went out one hand and feeling the passing air. He shouted, "Papa see all trees are going behind".
Old man smile and admired son feelings.
Beside the young man one couple was sitting and listing all the conversion between father and son.
They were little awkward with the attitude of 25 years old man behaving like a small child.
Suddenly young man again shouted, "Papa see the pond and animals. Clouds are moving with train".
Couple was watching the young man in embarrassingly.
Now its start raining and some of water drops touches the young man's hand.
He filled with joy and he closed the eyes.
He shouted again," Papa it's raining, water is touching me, see papa".
Couple couldn't help themselves and ask the old man.
"Why don't you visit the Doctor and get treatment for your son."
Old man said,
“Yes, We are coming from the hospital as Today my son got his eye sight for first time in his life".

* Moral of the Story *
"Don’t draw conclusions until you know all the facts".

Etched in my mind were thoughts of you;
From the day we drifted apart.
I still can see you walking away;
And with you, went my heart.
After all the time we spent together;
You threw it all away.
You seemed to do it so easily;
You let yourself go astray.
It hurt more than you'll ever know;
But in time, the pain has gone.
And now, it's very clear to me;
Giving you my love, was wrong.
So, now I'm saying "Goodbye forever."
No memories left to attack.
Cause I'm the one that's walking away;
Never again to look back!

I hide to cry
because I have no where to call my own
and "happily ever after" is a land too far away,
just after once- upon- a- time; just this side of the rainbow
and no one really cares anyway

I hide to cry
because I know I will never leave this place
and dreams don't really come true
its just all make- believe
and it really doesn't matter

I hide to cry
because my weakness brings my tears
and I have no one to hold me close
no one here who loves me
and no one really cares anyway

I hide to cry
because I embarrass the moon
and she is my only friend
but she's too far away to hold my hand
and it really doesn't matter anyway

I hide to cry
because no one really cares anyway
and is this pain even real
it really doesn't matter
and no one really cares anyway

I hide to cry
because no one validates my pain
and no one really cares
so why should I
and it really doesn't matter anyway.

Some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, “This is for you, Daddy.” He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.

He yelled at her, “Don’t you know that when you give someone a present, there’s supposed to be something inside it?”

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,”Oh, Daddy, it is not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy.”

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.
It is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for years and whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

-:Moral of the story:-

In a very real sense, each of us as humans have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, friends, family and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

A friend is someone with whom, your thoughts,
dreams and secrets you can share.
And no matter what you say or do, you know
that they still care.

A friend is always ready to laugh
with you when you are glad.
But has shoulder for you to cry on
at those times when you are sad.

A friend always want the best for you
And they are not happy until you are too.

A friend is never jealous
of the things you may attain.
And if you are the winner you will
not hear them complain.

A friend is a person who could spend everyday
with you, from beginning to end.

When you find someone like this they are more
than a friend they are a ...BEST FRIEND

One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“Oh yeah,” said the son.

“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”

As darkness slowly seeps into the air
The September Sun sinks further into the pillows
That are made of mountains
I feel drawn to the night
Which I once so fiercely fought.
Velvety soft wings envelop me
And my heart is full of you.
If tomorrow comes without me
If the darkness should carry me softly away
If I have heard my last dawn chorus,
Seen my last bright sunrise, lived my last sweet day
Wrap my love around you like a blanket
When winter comes, to keep you warm.
And forgive me that I am not with you.
Let my love carry you through the storm.

  • Today before you think of saying an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t speak.

  • Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

  • Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone ho’s crying out for a companion.

  • Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven/hell.

  • Before you complain about your children – Think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.

  • Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep – Think of the people who are living in the streets.

  • Before whining about the distance you drive – Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

  • And when you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

  • But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another – Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

  • And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on your face and thank — you’re alive and still around

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, And Fulfill it.

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she’s blind.

She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He’s always there for her.

She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she can see everything, including her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend is blind too, and refused to marry him.

Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying. “Just take care of my eyes dear.”

This is how human brain changes when the status changed.

Only few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations.

Rohit woke up one fine morning with a huge hangover. He forced himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he saw is a couple of aspirins and a glass of water on the side table. He sat down and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.

Rohit looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotless, clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins and notices a note on the table. “Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping. Love You!”

So he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Rohit asks, “Son, what happened last night?”

His son says, “Well, you came home around 3 AM, drunk and delirious. Broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door”

Totally Confused, Rohit asks, “So, why is everything in order and so clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me? I should expect a big quarrel with her!”

His son replies “Oh, that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your clothes and shoes off, you said ,”hey !!!!!!! leave me alone! I m married!”

Moral

Breakfast: Rs. 100.00

Self-induced hangover : Rs. 2000.00

Broken furniture: Rs. 20,000.00

Saying The Right Thing While Drunk : PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Son: "Daddy, may I ask you a question"
Daddy: "Yeah sure, what it is?"

Son: "Dad, how much do you make an hour"
Daddy: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"

Son: "I just want to know. Please tell me, hw much do you make an hour?"

Daddy: "I make Rs. 500 an hour"
"Oh", the little boy replied, with his head down.

Looking up, he said, "Dad, may I please borrow Rs. 300?"

The father was furious, "if the only reason u asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or other nonsense, then march yourself to your room and go to bed. Think why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior"
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions.
How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
"May be there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs. 300 and he really didn't ask for money very often!" The man went to the door of little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you a! sleep, son?" He asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier", said the man, "It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the Rs.300 you asked for"

The little boy sat straight up, smiling "oh thank you dad!" He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled some crippled up notes. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father.

"Why do you want money if you already had some?" the father grumbled.

Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.

"Daddy I have Rs. 500 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?

"Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you"

MORAL OF THE STORY:

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.
We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family..........

You tore me down again and again,
Caused me injury that left no mark,
Made me cry those shameful tears,
And yet I returned over and over.
Tried to fix our shattered relationship.
I blamed myself, thought I was failing you,
That I wasn't good enough,
That I was the reason we kept falling apart.
You'd accept my whispered words as
Again I tried to glue us back together,
You welcomed me and my promises to change,
Yet you never made an effort,
Never said your own sorries.
You were the one that needed to change.
You left me with a burden,
To carry a weight that was not my own.
All I wanted was you, to love me as I am,
To stop beating me down, to be there as you should be,
But you wont, because to you I'm wrong,
And to be in your life I have to change,
To fit your desires and loose the all other parts of me.
I went through hell because of you.
I couldn't see a chance that I'd survive.
I didn't believe I should survive.
I thought the pain was all I deserved,
Because somehow I failed you.
To me you used to be everything.
Thankfully I see now,
How truly foolish I was.
I know there will be moments,
When I miss you in my life,
But you made your choice,
It wasn't me.
And I've made mine,
No more tears for you dear father.
You don't get to ruin my second chance at life.
I was lucky to come through the darkness.
I'm hear if you want to try to fix it,
To make amends for your mistakes.
If you want to make the effort,
If you will change your opinions on perfection
To which I do not meet.
But don't expect open arms,
I'm not a child anymore,
Shinny toys will not win my favour.
You'll have to go on substance.
Good luck with that.

I love you more than life itself
But I’m afraid to
love.
My heart is like the fragile wings
Of a tiny little dove.

I'm scared to get too close.
I feel that I can't win.
You'll
love me for a little while
Then you'll set me free again.

I've lived so long on hopes and dreams
I don't know what to do.
I don't think I can trust my heart,
For it belongs to you.

I know you'll only
hurt me
Yet, I still keep running back.
Between the paths of our hearts
There's a worn and beaten track.

You've got my heart held on a string.
It’s breaking right in two.
Enough belongs to me -to
hurt-
The rest belongs to you.

I know that somewhere in your heart
There is a place for me.
I just don't know how to find it
And there's no way to make you see.

I can only hope that someday
You'll wake up and you'll find,
That while my heart belongs to yours,
Yours, too, belongs to mine.

When you love someone so deep inside,
It seems like it's so easy to hide.
You've loved him for so very long,
You would think he could do no wrong.

Every day you would hope and pray,
That he would always stay this way.
He treated you like you should be treated,
You thought your life was finally completed.

You thought your love was growing true,
And then one day it was all so blue.
He started putting you down and it hurt,
You thought all you were to him was dirt.

He started ignoring you and you wondered why,
All you wanted to do was curl up and die.
You thought your relationship would never end,
But that was all so fake and pretend.

One night he was so sweet to you,
You thought all those things were maybe untrue,
Two days later he was back the same,
You thought you were the one to blame.

He thought the relationship was getting too serious
And that you had become a little too curious.
By this time you knew it wouldn't last,
All the nice things he said were in the past.

You thought that you would marry him some day,
But this time God wanted to get his way.
You wanted things back how they were before,
But you knew this couldn't happen anymore.

It was a Saturday night about ten o'clock,
You heard the news and it wasn't a shock.
You knew this was going to happen soon,
